With the two-wheeler electric vehicle market heating up, all major automakers are jumping on the bandwagon to take bite of the electric pie in the country. While dedicated EV makers such as Ultraviolette have been pushing the envelop when it comes to technological and engineering front respresenting India on a global stage, other large scale two-wheeler companies such as TVS and Bajaj Auto have been firing up the sales charts benefitting from the rising EV demand, especially in the scooter market.
Bajaj Auto Takes A Dig At Ultraviolette:
‘There is nothing ultra about the Ultraviolette sales,’ Rajiv Bajaj, wittingly said while taking aim at the India’s homegrown EV maker, suggesting the popularity of electric bikes will remain on the lower side compared to the battery-powered scooters thanks to the practical approach and demand from Indian perspective.

However, comment from the Bajaj bossman hasn’t gone down well with Ultraviolette as Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-Founder of the performance EV brand, speaking to a prominent media house, has come out hitting back at the Pune-based two-wheeler giant. Subramaniam said “I also want to give credit to the Mr. Bajaj for the Genesis of Pulsar brand in India and what it stood for in terms of performance motorcycling in India. But where is that spirit now?”
He added that” We are going to be there right in the backyards of Bajaj Auto at a race format event in about a 90 days’ time at Aamby Vally. We are bringing the best of what we’ve got, and we invite Bajaj Auto to bring the best of what they’ve got. And a simple race format should probably give the answers.”

Bajaj vs Ultraviolette: Numbers
UV brought forward its F99 concept in Milan last year which is simply the fastest Indian two-wheeler to have ever showcased. With a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 3 seconds (claimed), which is clearly superbike territory, there is nothing else that comes close by an Indian automaker yet.
Bajaj Auto doesn’t have any battery-powered motorcycle in its arsenal but retails Chetak that has touched over 16,000 units per month.
While it’s clear that Chetak might not be the right fit for Valley Run (if Bajaj were to take the challenge serious), the next best bet would be the Pulsar NS400z. However, there is no comparing products of different segments all together but it they were to assemble on a single plate it would like be pitting a Katana against a kitchen knife. With F99’s 121 PS against Pulsar NS 400Z’s nearly 1/3rd 40 PS, there is no guessing who comes out taking the trophy in performance. However, if sales numbers are to be quoted, it’s the Pulsar that takes the crown.
