Volkswagen Reveals Next-Gen Cockpit And New Interior For All-New Electric ID. Polo – Check out The Details And Photos

Volkswagen has officially revealed its next-generation cockpit design, making its debut with the all-new ID. Polo and it offers a clear preview of how future Volkswagen electric cars will feel from the inside. The interior is designed with strong input from customer feedback, focusing on simplicity, quality and ease of use.

The ID. Polo’s cockpit is a completely rethought space to make it more intuitive and less distracting. The redesign includes the steering wheel, screens, buttons, dashboard and controls. One of the biggest highlights is the clean and horizontal dashboard layout as two large screens dominate the cabin and sit neatly in one line. Behind the steering wheel is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, which shows speed, range and driving information.

At the centre is a nearly 13-inch touchscreen infotainment display, which is one of the largest in its segment. This screen handles navigation, music, vehicle settings and smartphone connectivity and it is positioned so both the driver and front passenger can easily use it.

Unlike many modern cars that rely only on touchscreens, Volkswagen has brought back physical buttons for important functions such as climate control and hazard lights and this makes daily driving simpler as well as safer, especially for beginners who may find touch-only controls confusing. The new multi-function steering wheel also uses clearly marked buttons instead of touch-sensitive pads, which improves usability.

Adding a fun emotional touch is the retro display mode as with just one button press, the digital instrument cluster transforms into classic screen views inspired by the original 1980s Volkswagen Golf. The cabin feels premium and welcoming as fabric-covered surfaces on the dashboard and doors, soft-touch materials and warm colours create what Volkswagen calls a “Pure Positive” design language.

Powering this new cockpit is a next-generation software system, which brings smoother performance and new features. These include third-generation Travel Assist, which is capable of recognising traffic lights and stop signs and one-pedal driving, where the car can slow down significantly just by lifting your foot off the accelerator.

Another cool feature is the upgraded ID.Light, which is a smart light strip that now stretches across the dashboard and into the front doors. It communicates with the driver using light signals for navigation, charging status, and safety alerts.
