Is The Tata Harrier EV Worth Buying For Close To Rs 30 Lakh?

Electric cars are no longer a futuristic idea in India, as they are here, they are fast and in some cases, they are surprisingly powerful. One such example is the Tata Harrier EV Empowered QWD 75 ACFC, which is priced at Rs 29.48 lakh (ex-showroom), roughly Rs 31 lakh on-road in Delhi. That makes it the most expensive car Tata currently sells. But the big question is – Is it worth that kind of money?

Charging options are practical as it supports 120 kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in around 25 minutes. The included 7.2 kW AC fast charger (Wallbox) takes about 10.7 hours for a full charge at home.

It also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, which means, you can power appliances or even charge another EV using this car.

Other premium touches include ventilated front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof (voice-controlled), powered tailgate with gesture control, Boss Mode for extra rear legroom, air purifier, dual-zone climate control and electronic parking brake.

Talking about the safety, the SUV carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, offers 7 airbags (including a driver knee airbag), Level 2 ADAS with 22 functions, and a 540-degree camera with transparent bonnet view. There’s even a “Summon” mode and “Anywhere Parking Assist,” which allow the vehicle to move forward or backward using the key.

While it is not a hardcore off-roader, it offers 205 mm ground clearance and six terrain modes like – Normal, Rock Crawl, Mud Ruts, Snow/Grass, Sand and Custom. It can handle muddy trails better than most two-wheel-drive EVs.

Tata adds something important which is a lifetime battery warranty for the first private owner. That is a huge confidence booster in the EV world. The Tata Harrier EV Empowered QWD 75 ACFC is not a mass-market EV as it is a powerful, feature-rich electric SUV for buyers who want performance, tech and road presence and are willing to pay for it.
