With several test mule visuals circulating on social media, the imminent launch of the facelifted Volkswagen Taigun SUV is closer than you may think. With reports suggesting a launch timeline of March 2026, Volkswagen is expected to bring in major updates to the popular model, amidst both new rivals and existing models gaining ground. Here are five major updates that you can expect to see in the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift.

1. New Panoramic Sunroof:

A key highlight in the new Taigun will be the addition of a panoramic sunroof. A highly sought-after feature from buyers in this segment, we can expect the panoramic sunroof to debut in higher trims, while the single-pane sunroof will most likely be retained in the entry-level variants.

2. Rear Massage Seats:

This one would be the differentiator against other rivals. Based on the features list of the recently launched Skoda Kushaq facelift, it is safe to expect Volkswagen to add rear massage seats in the facelifted Taigun as well.

3. New 8-Speed Automatic:

While we do not expect any major change in the existing 1.0-Litre TSI and 1.5-Litre TSI turbo-petrol engine options, the facelifted Taigun is expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission with the more efficient 1.0-litre petrol engine option.

4. New LED Headlamps:

The front and rear of the Taigun facelift will be redesigned and this time around, it is expected to get full LED treatment, unlike the LED headlamp + halogen fog lamp setup that the existing model has. Test mule visuals also indicate that the front end will be redesigned to mimic the bigger Tiguan R-Line and Tayron R-Line SUVs.

5. LED Sequential Indicators:

Another key update in the lighting department would be the introduction of sequential indicators in the upcoming Taigun facelift. However, we expect these to be integrated at the rear, while the ORVMs and headlamps would most likely stick with traditional blink-style indicators.

Another major highlight in the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun facelift that prospective buyers should expect is a refreshed variant lineup with an enhanced focus on value addition. If the recent Kushaq rejig is anything to go by, then we expect the Taigun facelift to offer over 25 safety features, an electric sunroof and the option of the new automatic from the base trim level itself. A 5-star Global NCAP crash safety rating would most likely be announced at the time of launch, considering safety has been one of the key pillars behind the success of the older model.
