The high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz appears to be preparing the next chapter for one of its most exciting sports cars, as fresh spy photographs have revealed that Mercedes-AMG is working on a facelifted version of the AMG GT Coupe, giving brand lovers an early glimpse of what could be coming next year. Mercedes-AMG is the performance arm of the German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz. It focuses on building powerful, sportier versions of regular models. The AMG GT Coupe is one of the brand’s most iconic performance cars, which is known for its sleek design and impressive speed.

According to Carscoops, early test prototypes spotted on roads suggest that a refreshed version of the GT Coupe is already undergoing testing. Although the prototype is still covered in camouflage, a closer look reveals several interesting design updates.

Design Changes

According to Carscoops, the test car clearly shows a revised front bumper, indicating that designers are working on a more aggressive look. The headlights also appear different, with a slightly flatter bottom edge. Production versions are expected to feature Mercedes’ signature star-shaped lighting elements, which have become a recognizable design signature in the brand’s latest models.

The front grille also seems to have been tweaked slightly. Lower down, the air intake design looks similar to the one seen on the Mercedes-AMG SL, suggesting some design inspiration from the company’s latest sports roadster.

While most of the changes appear to be concentrated at the front, experts expect additional updates across the car. The production version could feature a new rear bumper, refreshed taillights and redesigned alloy wheels to give the coupe a sharper and more modern appearance.

Interior

Spy photographers were not able to get a clear look inside the cabin, but there are strong hints that the updated model will feature Mercedes-Benz’s latest operating system, as per Carscoops.

This new system recently debuted in the redesigned CLA and includes advanced artificial intelligence features. It integrates Google Gemini AI and an MBUX Virtual Assistant, designed to make the infotainment system more responsive and intelligent.

Interestingly, the infotainment display in the test vehicle appears to be covered with a black cloth and positioned between two air vents, which suggests the new GT Coupe may retain a landscape-style screen, rather than switching to the large portrait-style display used in some newer Mercedes models.

Performance

The prototype seen during testing features four circular exhaust tips, which indicates it could be the entry-level AMG GT 43 variant. The current version of this model is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 416 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission, which allows the car to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in about 4.5 seconds.

It remains unclear whether the updated model will receive additional power, but Mercedes-AMG is expected to offer a wide range of variants. These could include twin-turbo V8 versions, plug-in hybrid models, and possibly a hardcore Black Series variant inspired by the Concept AMG GT Track Sport.

Although testing has just begun, the facelifted AMG GT Coupe already looks promising. With updated styling, smarter technology and the potential for even more performance, the refreshed model could continue the legacy of one of Mercedes-AMG’s most exciting sports cars.
