Is The MG Hector Smart Pro Variant Most Value For Money In 2026?

New MG Hector Facelift Smart Pro Variant Explainer

Over the last few months, we have seen both re-engineered and all-new mid-sized SUVs enter the popular segment in a bid to attract new customers. Among the list of popular and refreshed SUVs, we have models such as the new Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and Safari petrol and the MG Hector facelift. The Hector facelift arrived in December 2025, offering several aesthetic upgrades along with a simplified drivetrain selection. With prices starting from Rs 11.99 lakh ex-showroom for the base variant, the new Hector relies on its feature list to appeal to a different set of buyers. Let’s take a closer look at the mid-spec Smart Pro variant to understand if it is the most value-for-money variant of the Hector SUV or not.

The Hector Smart Pro variant sits above the entry-level Style and Select Pro variants. Apart from a well-appointed features list, the Smart Pro variant is also the starting point for the Hector CVT, making it the most affordable automatic version, along with the option of a manual gearbox instead.

The Hector Smart Pro variant covers the basics well, with the new aura hex grille, chrome inserts and full LED lights on the front and back, with the exception of the fog lamps, which are halogen-based. It also gets the new 18-inch alloy wheels. Other exterior add-ons include a shark fin antenna, roof rails, rear spoiler and turn indicators on ORVMs.

On the inside, the Hector Smart Pro is almost as good as the top-end variants. It gets the dual-tone ice grey interiors, the 7-inch driver information display, along with the 14-inch infotainment touchscreen paired to an 8-speaker premium audio system. The Smart Pro variant also introduces the panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, push-button start-stop, cruise control and the i-Smart suite of connected features for the Hector. However, it does miss out on the ambient lighting, front ventilated seats, powered tailgate, air purifier and other convenience features.

Along with the above mentioned packaging elements, the new Hector is available in a single engine option but the Smart Pro variant offers both manual and CVT automatic. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 141 hp and 250 Nm of torque and the 6-speed manual version is priced at Rs 14.99 lakh ex-showroom. The CVT automatic version in the Smart Pro variant is priced at Rs 16.29 lakh ex-showroom. This means that going automatic would cost Rs 1.30 lakh extra. On the other hand, the Smart Pro manual version for under Rs 15 lakh offers a good value proposition.
