VinFast Electric scooters to be launched in India in 2026

VinFast, the Vietnamese electric automobile manufacturer, has plans to launch its range of electric scooters in India.

The company intends to launch as many as three electric scooters in the second half of 2026. These scooters will be sold via exclusive retail outlets across India. These showrooms will be opened in a phased manner, starting with metro cities.

One of the scooters that is expected to go on sale is the VinFast Viper. This EV looks large and imposing, in relation to some other models. The design is sporty, with well-defined creases and an LED headlight that’s integrated into the front apron.

Powering the scooter is a 3kW electric motor and it gets a 1.5kWh battery pack that can be removed. This adds some amount of flexibility to the task of charging the battery. Moreover, an additional battery pack can be added which manages to bump up the range to 156km .

The scooter gets two ride modes — Eco and Power — with the former aimed at maximising range. Other features include keyless start-stop and a colour TFT display.

VinFast will have quite the task to set up its electric two-wheeler portfolio in India, considering the competition that already exists in our ever-growing market. The challenge lies in setting up a robust sales and service network, charging infrastructure, and pricing. Once launched, the scooters will go up against the TVS iQube, TVS Orbiter, Bajaj Chetak,and Ather Rizta.
