Harley-Davidson Recalls 17,000 Motorcycles in The US

  • Recall applicable to 2025 and 2026 Softail models
  • The issue is with the bike’s rear brake line contacting the BCU
  • Can result in loss of the rear brake function

Harley-Davidson has recalled 17,000 motorcycles in the US due to a rear brake issue. The affected bikes include models from the brand’s Softail lineup, such as the Street Bob, Heritage Classic, Low Rider S, and Low Rider ST. Owner notifications are expected to be sent out by 18 May 2026.

According to reports, the rear brake line in the Softail lineup models can come into contact with the Body Control Module (BCM), resulting in a brake fluid leak and the complete loss of the rear brake. The loss of the rear brake can likely increase the risk of an accident in an emergency braking situation where the rider will apply both brakes.

So far, it is not known whether this issue will affect the bikes that are sold in India. If you are a Harley-Davidson owner with a MY25 or MY26 Softail model, it is best to reach out to your dealership to see if this issue is present on your bike.

Harley-Davidson currently has 22 full-line dealerships in India, and the brand is working on expanding its presence. Recently, it opened two new dealerships, one in Kochi and the other in Bengaluru.
