Petrol and CNG Prices Hiked for the Third Time This Month

Prices of petrol and CNG have been increased for the third time this month. While petrol prices have been hiked by Rs. 0.90, the cost of CNG has gone up by Rs. 1 in select North Indian cities.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had last increased the price of petrol and CNG on 21 April by Rs. 1. With this latest price hike, petrol costs Rs. 99.51 per litre in Delhi, and Rs. 108.49 per litre in Mumbai. Meanwhile, CNG is priced at Rs. 81.09 per kg.

The ongoing conflict involving Iran, the US, and Israel has disrupted global energy supply chains, pushing crude oil prices to nearly USD 110 per barrel. As a result, oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reportedly been facing losses of around Rs. 1,000 crore per day due to the West Asia crisis.

The rise in fuel prices has already begun impacting Indian consumers, with daily commuting costs increasing significantly. Additionally, prices of essential goods are also expected to rise further due to higher transportation and logistics costs.
