Dunlop Geomax MX54 Best Suited To Proper Dirt Bikes

  • Made for intermediate to hard motocross terrain
  • New front tread and factory-derived rear tread pattern

Dunlop has released the new Geomax MX54 intermediate-to-hard terrain motocross tyre for you to properly train on your dirt machine. This tyre replaces the earlier Geomax MX53 with changes to improve consistency, control and durability as a track shifts from damp morning soil to dry hard-packed surfaces through the day. It is a specialised tyre, so you will have to place special requests with your dealers for these.

Geomax MX54 is not meant for normal road use or casual adventure touring. It has been developed for motocross-style riding where grip, braking control, slide behaviour and predictable feedback is more important. The tyre bridges the gap between soft-intermediate surfaces and harder terrain making it more relevant for riders who use closed dirt tracks, training grounds, farm trails or proper off-road parks.

Kawasaki KLX450R Rear Tyre

The rear tyre uses a tread pattern derived from Dunlop’s Geomax Factory Spec tyre. It improves grip, traction under acceleration and enhances slide control. A tyre that feels strong in soft soil in the morning can become nervous once the surface hardens. Dunlop’s claim is that the MX54 gives a more stable performance window across such changes.

Front tyre with its all-new tread pattern improves turn-in precision, cornering stability and braking performance. The company has also used its Progressive Cornering Block Technology Advanced to increase flexibility and create more biting edges. This should offer the rider clearer feedback when leaning, braking, or holding a line on slippery hard-pack sections.

The motorcycles that can properly use these tyres in India are limited though. Kawasaki KX450 is the clearest fit. Kawasaki KLX230R S and KLX230 will be able to wear these as well. The Geomax MX54 is a serious upgrade for riders who own proper off-road motorcycles. India has a small motocross customer base, but they are all specialised users and would love these new Dunlops for their machines.
