Harley-Davidson Revives Super Glide for 2026 with Pure Nostalgia

  • Limited-edition 2026 model; 2,500 serialised units
  • 1,923cc V-twin
  • Sold only in the US and Canada

Harley-Davidson Super Glide returns for 2026 as a limited-edition cruiser. This revival is one of the brand’s most important factory custom names, literally 55 years after the original FX Super Glide was launched in 1971. Production for this one will be limited to 2,500 serialized units and Harley-Davidson has confirmed that the model will be offered only in the United States and Canada.

The new Super Glide is built as a tribute to the 1971 Harley-Davidson FX Super Glide, one of the first complete motorcycles styled by Willie G. Davidson. The original mixed the Big Twin FL chassis with the narrower XL Sportster front fork creating a factory custom formula that later became central to Harley-Davidson’s identity. The 2026 model essentially follows the same spirit within the brand’s modern Cruiser family and on the Softail chassis.

Harley-Davidson Super Glide Custom Right Front Three Quarter

2026 Super Glide gets White Onyx Pearl paint, red and blue striping, a stretched Bar and Shield tank graphic, and brilliant chrome across. It’s laced wheels, chrome console, chrome mini ape handlebar, teardrop fuel tank, round air cleaner, exhaust, side covers, fender struts, signals and headlamp all look brilliant exuding that old-school Harley styling. The serialized number is placed on the fuel tank console.

Its Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic V-twin displaces 1,923cc and produces 97bhp of maximum power, 163Nm of peak torque. The engine has been tuned for easy rideability with its flat torque curve. Softail frame is designed to reduce weight while keeping stiffness and the hidden rear monoshock keeps the look close to an old hardtail frame. At the front, the Super Glide uses 49mm dual-bending valve forks, while the rear gets under-seat hydraulic preload adjustment.

Harley-Davidson Super Glide Custom Riding

Electronics suite consists of Rider Safety Enhancements including straight-line and cornering ABS, straight-line and cornering traction control, and drag torque slip control. It also gets three ride modes, Road, Sport, and Rain. Road is the balanced everyday setting, Sport gives stronger response and Rain reduces aggression for lower-grip conditions.

Lighting is all-LED with a 5.75-inch headlamp with a signature ring and combination stop, tail and turn lights at the rear. The cockpit uses a five-inch console-mounted instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer and a multifunction LCD display. Harley-Davidson has also announced the Road Glide Liberty Edition as part of its 2026 Liberty Edition Enthusiast Collection. This model joins the Street Glide, Street Glide 3 Limited, and Heritage Classic Liberty Edition motorcycles. Like the Super Glide, the Liberty Edition models are tied to the 250th anniversary of the United States and use special graphics and paint to connect with Harley’s American identity.
