Bajaj Auto’s systems hit by ransomware attack

on Tuesday disclosed that it was hit by a that affected the systems of the company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Ltd (BATL), prompting an immediate response from its technical teams and experts.

In a regulatory filing, the automaker said the cyber security incident occurred at around 8 am IST on June 23. The company said it promptly initiated precautionary measures and response protocols to contain the attack and mitigate its impact.


“Immediately upon becoming aware of the incident, the technical team of the Company along with cyber security experts and the management responded promptly and initiated necessary precautionary actions and protocols to mitigate the impact of this incident,” Bajaj Auto said.

The company added that, based on the information available so far, the measures undertaken have been successful in mitigating the impact of the attack.

Bajaj Auto said the impacted systems at both the parent company and BATL, its wholly owned technology subsidiary. However, it did not disclose the extent of the disruption, whether any data had been compromised, or if manufacturing and business operations had been affected.

The company said it has informed the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) of the incident in accordance with the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Bajaj Auto said the disclosure was being made as a matter of good governance.
