About Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Mercedes-Benz launched the and rival, the new-generation C-Class in India on 10 May, 2022. Available in three variants – C200, C220d, and C300d, the sedan comes with three different powertrains, including a new petrol engine.
Exterior
This generation update has made the sedan longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. Further, it draws inspiration from the S-Class – the sharper LED headlights, L-shaped daytime running lights, and angular rear lights are reminiscent of the Mercedes flagship. Meanwhile, the India-spec model features digital headlights and 17-inch alloys for C200 and C220d and 18-inch alloys for C300d.
Interior
The completely overhauled interior features a split-display setup, a new steering wheel (AMG-spec in C300d), three centre air vents above the infotainment system, and an uncluttered centre console tunnel. The India-spec C-Class comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, an 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver display with a fingerprint scanner, the latest iteration of the MBUX UI, a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, power front seats, two-zone temperature control, Mercedes Me connect, car-to-x communication, and so on. It is also available in different interior tone options.
Engine and transmission
Under the hood, the C200 gets a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine producing 201bhp and 300Nm, while the C220d is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel unit making 197bhp and 440Nm. Then, the C300d gets a 1,993cc, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor delivering 261bhp and 550Nm. All three engines are linked to a 48V integrated starter generator, while a nine-speed automatic transmission is standard across the powertrains.
