Simple One Launch: India’s First Electric Scooter With 212 Km Range launched at Rs 1.45 lakh

Simple Energy launched its debut electric scooter after a two-year hiatus from debuting the Simple One back in 2021. Prices for the Simple One e-scooter will start from Rs 1.45 lakh. The price is exclusive of a 750W charger, and with that included, the is priced at Rs 1.58 lakh.

Pre-Bookings for the electric scooter had already commenced, and in 18 months the company has registered more than 1 lakh pre-bookings. Deliveries for the same will commence from June 6 onwards in a phased manner starting from Bengaluru.

Over the past two years, the Simple One has gone through a series of technical upgrades. For instance, the battery protection has increased, which has increased the weight of the scooter by 19 kg. Simple Energy also claims that lights and switches have improved from before.

As for its battery, the Simple One will equip a dual-battery pack wherein one is fixed and the other is a portable battery pack. The fixed Li-Ion battery pack is rated at 5kWh, but the rating of the removable battery pack is not available as of yet. With both batteries fully charged, the Simple One can do 212 km of range on a single charge, as per IDC (Indian Driving Cycle).

The batteries power a 4.5 kW(continuous)/8.5kW(peak) electric motor that produces 72 Nm of torque, Simple Energy also claims that the Simple One is the fastest electric scooter in India with 0-40 km/h acceleration coming up in 2.77 seconds. Furthermore, the Simple One electric scooter is also available with 4 ride modes – Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic.

When it comes to Simple One’s charging facility, the scooter will be available with both portable and home chargers. The portable unit can charge the fixed batteries from 0-80% in 2 hours and 7 minutes, while the fixed charger can do the same in 3 hours and 47 minutes.

As for its cycle parts, the scooter is built around tubular steel chassis. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and mono shock for the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by a 200mm disc at the front, and a 190mm disc at the rear. The Simple One rides on 12-inch alloy wheels (both front and rear), shod in 90/90-R12 54L tubeless tires.

Like most premium electric scooters, the Simple One also gets a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth and 4G LTE connectivity. The 7-inch TFT touchscreen runs an Android Open Source OS, and it also displays maps, monthly overall ride statistics, battery range and performance motoring, call alerts, and music display.

Simple Energy is offering a 3-year/ 30,000 km warranty on the vehicle, motor, and battery. The chargers are available with a 1 year/10,000 km warranty, and the simple dock on-board gets a 1-year warranty. The Simple One scooter will be available in six colour options – Namma Red, Brazen Black, Azure Blue, and Grace White, along with the Brazen X and Light X.

The Simple One scooter will compete against the likes of the Ather 450X and Ola S1 Pro. Prices for both start from Rs 98,080 and Rs 1,15,177, respectively.
