Hyderabad: The Adilabad police have warned officials against appointing people other than policemen to check vehicles at checkposts. The directive came in the wake of an incident on March 29, when a complaint was lodged against the personal driver of a motor vehicle inspector for checking vehicles. DSP L Jeevan Reddy said the highway police noticed this and lodged a complaint at Jainath police station.
Adilabad SP Akhil Mahajan has instructed the officials to do the checking at the checkposts and toll plazas in the district and not to ask their private drivers to do it on their behalf.
The SP warned that henceforth, cases would be registered against officials if they get private persons to check vehicles. In a similar incident, the vehicle of a former SP was stopped at the Boraj check post by private persons on behalf of the commercial tax officials. A case was filed against the individuals.
