After Maruti Suzuki Jimny, This 4×4 SUV Is The Next Choice Of The Indian Defence Forces

Force Motors has announced that it has received an order of 2,978 units of the Gurkha SUV from the Indian Defence Forces. These vehicles will be tailor-made to meet the requirements of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force. The LSV (Light Strike Vehicle) has been serving the Indian Defence Forces for some time now.

A 140 BHP Turbo-Diesel Powers The Force Gurkha

Force hasn’t shared the details of the Gurkha that will be supplied to the Defence Forces. However, the regular models of the 4×4 SUV come with a 2.6-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 140 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

Force Gurkha Is An Extreme Off-Road Vehicle

Both Gurkha configurations come with a live independent front axle and a live rigid rear axle. There is a manual transfer case with 2 High, 4 High, and 4 Low gears. The Gurkha comes with front and rear manual differential locks. Both versions of the Force Gurkha can tackle a 35-degree gradient and wade through 700 mm of water. It has a ground clearance of 233 mm.

The Force Gurkha’s five-door and three-door versions are available in a single variant. The former is priced at Rs 16.75 lakh, while the latter retails for Rs 18.00 lakh (ex-showroom).
