Can An EV Climb A Mountain? Upcoming Tata Harrier.ev Has The Answer!

Tata Motors is set to launch the Harrier.ev in India tomorrow. The brand has released a video on its social media platforms showcasing the Harrier.ev attempting to climb the famous Elephant Rock in Kerala. This mountain peak rises to an elevation of 3,937 feet. Certain sections of the climb have an incline of up to 34 degrees, while other areas are scattered with jagged rocks and loose boulders.

The video shows the Harrier.ev successfully making its way up the mountain. It not only captures the climb but also shares some cool details about the upcoming SUV. We now know that the Harrier.ev will have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, which Tata Motors is calling ‘QWD Dual-Motor.’ This gives it a nice edge over the Mahindra BE 6, which only comes with a single-motor option.

What Off-Road Features Does Tata Harrier.ev Have?

Along with the all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, the Harrier.ev is set to come with some cool off-road features. In the video, you can see it has a ‘transparent mode’ that shows what’s underneath the car using a special camera mounted on the underside. It works with the 360-degree camera system to give you a full view around the vehicle, which is super handy for tackling rough terrain. Plus, it’ll have an off-road mode, a rock crawl mode, and a boost mode.

Tata Motors hasn’t officially shared the range estimates for the yet. But in a video, you can see it has a range of about 560 km when it’s at 90% charge, which drops to 525 km at 85% charge. It seems like the Harrier EV should hit over 600 km range when it’s fully charged.

How Much Will The Tata Harrier.ev Cost?

Prices of the Harrier.ev are expected to fall in the range of Rs 24 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. This will make it stand as a direct rival for the Mahindra BE 6.
