About Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Mercedes-AMG G63 is available in a single top of the line model in India. The second generation model strikes a right balance between its conventional styling elements along with the modern design. Along with new style highlights, the SUV also gets a fresh set of interior highlights which seem to be borrowed from the S-Class. The AMG G63 SUV is indeed quite a unique offering from the premium car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz in India.

Engine

Mechanically, the Mercedes-AMG G63 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo engine that generates 577bhp of power and 850Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a new nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The SUV is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in about 4.5-seconds and is electronically restricted to a top speed of 220kmph. For better fuel efficiency, the ‘Controlled Efficiency’ driving mode switches off the engine whenever the vehicle stops.

Interior

The Mercedes-AMG G63 gets handstitched dual-tone designo leather upholstery, with a choice of attractive colours – designo porcelain, designo classic red, designo black, designo light brown, designo sand and designo titanium pearl. The SUV also gets illuminated AMG stainless steel door sill panels, designo leather seats, leather-trimmed dashboard and AMG performance steering wheel as well as door centre panels in ruffled leather, headlining in black DINAMICA microfibre plus ambient lighting. This time around, the vehicle gets dual digital displays on the dashboard. One is for the instrument cluster while the other is the display for the touchscreen system running the latest version of the MBUX operating system. AMG Performance steering wheel in black Nappa leather in a four-spoke design and flattened lower section with silver inserts are also unique highlights for the SUV.

Exterior

Mercedes-Benz has retained the boxy masculine exterior design, however for freshness, the new model gets AMG radiator grille with chromed twin louvres, AMG wheel-arch flaring with ‘V8 BITURBO’ logo, AMG exhaust system with twin chromed side tailpipes, 20-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels which are painted in matte black with a high-sheen finish with red painted brake callipers and 275/50 R 20 tyres. The overall rugged styled look is completed by the standard-fit exterior Stainless Steel package.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 is priced at Rs 2.19 crores (ex-showroom) and it compete against the like of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Lamborghini Urus, BMW X5 M and the Range Rover Sport.
