NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Thursday restricted entry of commercial vehicles after several arterial roads were flooded because of the rising Yamuna.
Inter-state buses coming from other northern states will also stop at the Singhu border, not ISBT Kashmere Gate, police officers said.
In an advisory, the police said commercial vehicles will be diverted from Mukarba Chowk as they will not be allowed to ply between Mukarba Chowk and Wazirabad bridge. Commercial vehicles will also be diverted from Sarai Kale Khan and the Ghazipur border. No commercial vehicle will be allowed between Sarai Kale Khan and IP Flyover.
Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said: “Non-destined commercial vehicles won’t be allowed to enter Delhi and will be diverted to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways. No commercial vehicles will be allowed between Akshardham and Sarai Kale Khan.”
Traffic was affected on Bhairon Marg, Rajghat, Ring Road opposite IGI Stadium, Hanuman Setu and the Pragati Maidan Tunnel, among other places. Police said traffic from Ghaziabad will be diverted to Road No 57. Traffic from Wazirabad Bridge to Majnu Ka Tila will be diverted towards Mukarba Chowk and traffic from Boulevard Road to ISBT will be diverted towards Shamnath Marg and MG Marg.
