Honda CBR650R, CB650R Now Available With E-Clutch In India

In January 2025, Honda launched the CBR650R sportsbike and the CB650R streetfighter in India. Three months after their launch, Honda has updated both 650cc motorcycles by adding one significant feature: an e-clutch. Aside from this new addition, the bikes remain mechanically unchanged. However, there has been a slight revision in their pricing.

What Is Honda’s E-Clutch System?

Honda’s e-clutch system enables gear changes without the need to manually operate the clutch lever. The technology automatically manages the clutch operation. Although the clutch lever is still present and can be used manually if desired, this system differs significantly from fully automatic gears, where both the clutch and gear changes occur automatically. In a motorcycle equipped with e-clutch technology, the rider still needs to change gears manually.

Honda CBR650R And CB650R Continue With The Same 650cc Engine

In addition to the introduction of the e-clutch technology, no other mechanical changes have been made to the two 650cc motorcycles. They still feature the 649cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine, which produces 93.87 horsepower and 63 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox that comes with a slip-and-assist clutch.
