Honda Sees Mild Domestic Growth In February 2026 Despite Sharp Drop In Exports

Honda Cars India has posted its February 2026 sales numbers, and while the overall headline may look mixed at first glance, there is more to the story than just the top-line figures. In February 2026, Honda sold a total of 7,212 passenger vehicles from India. This includes both cars sold within the country and those exported overseas. Out of this total, 5,629 units were sold in the domestic market, while 1,582 units were exported to international markets.

Compared to February 2025, when Honda sold 10,323 units in total, this year’s 7,212 units represent a year-on-year decline of 3,111 vehicles. That translates to a 30.13 percent drop in overall monthly sales. Exports, in particular, saw a sharp fall. In February 2025, Honda had exported 4,707 units. This year, exports dropped to 1,582 units, which is a decline of 3,124 vehicles, or a steep 66.36 percent fall. However, the domestic story is slightly more positive.

Honda sold 5,629 cars in India in February 2026, compared to 5,616 units in February 2025. That is a small increase of 13 vehicles, or 0.23 percent growth. While the number may look modest, it signals stability in a competitive market where even maintaining volumes can be a challenge.

Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., said the company maintained its momentum during the month. According to him, the Honda Amaze has remained popular as a practical and safe sedan choice for Indian families. The Honda City, a long-time favorite in the midsize sedan segment, and the Elevate SUV also contributed steady volumes, supported by promotional offers during the month.

For new car buyers, it helps to understand that brands often use discounts and festive promotions to push sales toward the end of the financial year. February is typically a crucial period as companies prepare to close their fiscal books in March.

The drop in exports could be linked to changing demand patterns in overseas markets or shipment adjustments. Export volumes often fluctuate based on global economic conditions, inventory cycles and currency movements.

While the overall numbers show a decline compared to last year, Honda’s ability to hold domestic sales steady suggests that its core models continue to attract buyers. As the company heads into the final month of the financial year, it remains cautiously optimistic.
