Hyundai Begins Testing Hydrogen Tech In India: Guess Which SUV They’re Using

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is making waves in the realm of sustainable transport by teaming up with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., India’s largest energy company. They’ve just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to explore the potential for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to hit the roads in India.

As part of this collaboration, HMIL has handed over a Hyundai NEXO, their hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), to IndianOil for real-world testing. Over the next two years, both companies will put the vehicle through its paces, aiming to cover around 40,000 kilometres. This testing phase will not only assess how well the vehicle performs over time but also evaluate its reliability in everyday use.

Furthermore, the trial will include a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, which will offer insights into the costs associated with maintenance and the broader economic and environmental benefits of hydrogen vehicles in the Indian market. This initiative could be a significant step forward in promoting greener transportation options in India, contributing to a more sustainable future for mobility.
