The Hyundai Exter facelift 2026 has been spotted during testing on the Indian roads, indicating that the launch of the vehicle is expected in 2026. This update is important for Indian buyers as the facelifted version may come with new features along with minor changes in the design, while the engine variants remain the same, keeping the price positioning in the entry-level SUV segment.

Spy images show a camouflaged test vehicle undergoing road tests, indicating that Hyundai has begun evaluating the mid-cycle update for the micro-SUV. The Exter was first launched in India in 2023 and competes with models such as the Tata Punch in the growing small SUV category. With the facelift, Hyundai is likely focusing on visual refresh and additional equipment rather than major mechanical changes. The updated version is expected to arrive in the Indian market sometime in 2026 after final testing is completed.

The H-shaped LED DRLs, which have become a hallmark for the Exter, seem to be unchanged and the square-shaped projector headlights seem similar to what we have on the current model. At the rear, extensive camouflage has been applied but it seems that the taillights will retain their current H-shaped DRLs. A new connecting light bar between the taillights might be introduced on the updated model as well. It looks like Hyundai is working on improving the styling of the Exter without changing its overall proportions.

Some of the potential upgrades include a larger infotainment screen, increased functionality of the digital instrument cluster and improvements to the connected car features. This is likely to address the need for increased connectivity and technology within the entry-level SUV category.

Hyundai will also retain the CNG variant of the Exter, which comes with the company’s own twin-cylinder tech, targeting users who want to save fuel costs.

With the development tests already in progress, the facelifted Hyundai Exter will likely make its way to the Indian market in 2026.
