IPL 2025: Lucknow police issue traffic advisory ahead of LSG vs DC clash at Ekana Stadium

NEW DELHI: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has announced comprehensive traffic restrictions and diversions for the Indian Premier League match between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The restrictions will be enforced from 3pm until the match concludes, with the game starting at 7.30pm.
To ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety, several traffic restrictions and diversions will be enforced from 3pm until the match concludes.
Traffic restrictions
The following routes will be restricted for heavy vehicles, buses, and commercial vehicles:

  • From Gosainganj Tiraaha and Amul Dairy towards Ahimamau

  • Via Utraithia Underpass towards Shaheed Path

  • From Lalbatti Chauraha towards Sultanpur, Rae Bareli, and Kanpur Road

  • From Sultanpur Road to Police Headquarters via HCL and Plassio

  • From Sultanpur Road to Ahimamau, and vice versa

  • U-turns at Ahimamau Chauraha will be restricted from 2pm onwards

  • Traffic from Ahimamau to Plassio will be completely blocked

Diversion plan
Light vehicles and general traffic will be rerouted through alternate routes as follows:

  • From Kanta Tiraaha (Ayodhya Road): Vehicles will be diverted via Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Samta Mulak, Lalbatti, Kariappa, and Teli Bagh.

  • From Kanpur Road Tiraaha on Shaheed Path: Diversion via Barabirwa, Bangla Bazaar, and 1090 Chauraha.

  • Vehicles heading towards Ahimamau from Sultanpur Road will be diverted at Amul Tiraaha via Lulu Mall cutting.

  • Vehicles bound for Police HQ must take alternate routes from Ahimamau Chauraha.

  • No access from Kanta Shaheed Path Tiraaha to Kanpur via Ahimamau Ramp.

  • Traffic between Ahimamau and Plassio will be routed via HCL Tiraaha and Sanskrit Tiraaha.

Expect heavy traffic on Shaheed Path
Authorities have warned of congestion between 2pm and 9pm, particularly along Shaheed Path.
Commuters headed towards Kanpur, Amausi, Barabirwa, and the Expressway are advised to avoid the route and opt for alternative corridors.
Vehicles headed for stadium parking must use the route via Ahimamau Chauraha, with the option of approaching via Arjunganj or Cantt Road to reduce load on Shaheed Path.
No-entry for heavy vehicles post match
On April 22, May 9, and May 18, the usual night no-entry for heavy vehicles from 11pm will instead begin after the match concludes, depending on traffic conditions.
