When it comes to mid-sized SUVs, Toyota has had a hit on its hands since the Urban Cruiser Hyryder launched in September 2022. With multiple engine options, including a strong hybrid and CNG, combined with the automaker’s reputation for reliability, the Hyryder has been a top-seller for the Japanese automaker, surpassing the Innova MPV in more recent times. With over 18 variants on offer, let’s take a quick look at the Hyryder Neodrive G (Optional) variant to understand if this mid-variant offers the most value for money in the 18-variant lineup.

The mid-variant Hyryder can be considered to be a high-value proposition as customers do not pay a higher up-front price for the strong hybrid technology but still get access to an extensive list of comfort and aesthetic features when compared to the base model.

The Hyryder G (O) comes with LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs, crystal acrylic front grille, roof rails, roof end spoiler, a chrome belt line and body coloured door handles. It also offers a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, ambient lighting, cruise control and ventilated seats. Other entertainment options in this variant include a 9-inch touchscreen, Arkamys 6-speaker audio system and driver information is taken care of by the 7-inch driver display.

This brings the mid-spec Hyryder G (O) variant close to the top-end variants when considering features and overall packaging. However, the major difference lies in the drivetrain options. While the cheapest strong hybrid variant starts from Rs 16.72 lakh ex-showroom, the Toyota Hyryder Neodrive G variant with the manual gearbox is priced at Rs 14.23 lakh ex-showroom and the G variant also gives access to an automatic transmission, which is priced at Rs 15.39 lakh ex-showroom. Customers can also opt in for the G variant with the S-CNG drivetrain to combine top-end features with the efficiency of a CNG car.

In standard form, the Hyryder Neodrive G (O) is powered by the 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 101 hp and 136.8 Nm of torque. It also gets a smart-hybrid ISG system to make the SUV more fuel efficient and has a claimed mileage figure of up to 21.11 kmpl in the manual version.
