Jawa Motorcycles has expanded its motorcycle lineup with the launch of a brand-new motorcycle adding to line up 42 badge bikes of the brand. Called the 42 FJ, the prices of the bike start at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 26,000 more expensive than the base variant of the Jawa 42.
Following the design language of the brand, the Jawa 42 FJ follows the retro theme. This is highlighted by the circular headlamp which extends to the drop-shaped fuel tank. To improve its appeal, the bike gets an aluminum plate on each side of the tank. Meanwhile, the side panel of the bike gets the number “42” representing its historical heritage. All of this is complemented by a flat single-piece seat with the fenders having the same Jawa pattern with the tail lights protruding out of the tail section.
The retro-style feel of the bike is further highlighted by the multi-spoke alloy wheels. However, this element is limited to the top-end variant while the entry-level variants get the same wire-spoke wheels. The bike also has a blacked-out engine and upswept exhaust pipes. All of this is complemented by various paint schemes: Deep Black Matte Red Clad, Deep Black Matte Black Clad, Mystique Copper, Aurora Green Matte, and Cosmo Blue Matte.
To keep it in touch with the modern side, the bike has an LED headlamp, instrument cluster, and switchgear indicator. The feature list also includes dual-channel ABS as standard and single-channel ABS on another variant.
Powering the Jawa 42 FJ is a 334 cc engine that the brand employed on the Jawa 350. However, the engine has been tuned to have an increased power output of 29.1 bhp and 29.6 Nm of peak torque. This is 2 hp and 3 Nm more than the standard Jawa 42.
