Kawasaki Z7 Hybrid and Ninja 7 Hybrid Get Updated to Make Them More Practical

  • EV mode can be selected up to 60kmph
  • Sport mode gets an automatic transmission function
  • Improved city usability

Kawasaki has updated its Z7 Hybrid and the Ninja 7 Hybrid motorcycles with more user friendly software revisions. Riders can now select electric-only operation up to 60kmph, instead of the earlier 25kmph limit. This 25kmph ceiling was rather narrow in real use as traffic speeds in cities mostly move above that pace even when roads are crowded. Raising the limit to 60kmph means the hybrids feel more relevant to actual urban riding.

The other major improvement is to Sport mode which now gains an automatic transmission function. Earlier Sport mode required manual gear control through the paddle shifters. With the new automatic transmission function, Kawasaki is making Sport mode more approachable. Riders will now be able to manage congestion or attack corners harder without having to think constantly about shifts.

Kawasaki listened to rider and media feedback and responded in the right areas without making much hardware changes. They simply adjusted ECU management to improve the way the motorcycles behave in the urban environment.
