KTM 390 Adventure X Prices Increased by Rs. 17,000

  • Now priced at Rs. 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Earlier priced at Rs. 3.26 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • 350cc version likely to be introduced soon

KTM India has raised the price of the 390 Adventure X in India, and now the Adventure bike is Rs. 17,000 more expensive than before. Before the price hike, the bike retailed at Rs. 3.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

With the new price of Rs. 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is more expensive than its closest rival, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The Himalayan 450, for reference, starts at Rs. 3,05,736 (ex-showroom, Chennai).

The price hike is likely because the brand is working on launching the new 390 lineup, with downsized 350cc engines. Since GST 2.0 has come into effect, motorcycles with engine capacities above 350cc are now taxed at 40 percent, while those under 350cc are taxed at 18 percent.

Triumph recently downsized its 400cc lineup to 349cc to comply with the new tax norms. The brand had recently launched its new 350cc lineup, including the Tracker 400 with the new engine.

KTM had also increased the price of the 390 Duke by Rs. 40,000. The price hike is likely part of the brand’s strategy to better differentiate the upcoming 350cc lineup, from the current 390 lineup with the 398.12cc engines. With the downsized 350cc engines, the KTM 390 lineup will likely take a hit in terms of performance, but will be more affordable thanks to the lower taxes.
