KTM 390 Duke price hiked by Rs 40,000

KTM 390 Duke price hiked by Rs 40,000

  • The Ex-showroom Price Is Hiked
  • On-road Cost Breaches Rs 4 Lakh Mark
  • 350cc KTM Duke Expected To Launch Soon

KTM has raised the price of the 390 Duke by Rs 40,000, and it now costs Rs 3.39 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

The price hike is a result of the 40 per cent tax that is levied on the bike. While the government had announced the tax hike a few months ago, KTM was absorbing the additional cost and refraining from passing it on to the customers, until now. As a result of the increase in the ex-showroom cost, the on-road cost of the bike has breached the Rs 4 lakh mark and now stands at Rs 4.07 lakh.

KTM 390 Duke Right Side View

Those who booked a KTM 390 Duke will have to bear the current price of the bike at the time of delivery, which is going to be quite an expensive affair.

KTM seems to have done so to create a wide enough gap between the 390 Duke and the upcoming 350cc KTM Duke. The 350cc Duke will attract a much lower tax at 18 per cent, and that will allow KTM to price the bike competitively.

KTM 390 Duke Self Start Switch

That said, the 350cc KTM Duke is expected to produce less power and torque than the engine in the KTM 390 Duke. How well KTM fans will accept a downsized Duke remains to be seen.
