Assam is a northeastern Indian state famous for tea and it is also home to the highly vulnerable one-horned Indian rhinoceros. That being said, the terrain in Assam is quite tough to tackle with hilly areas and dense vegetation.
Thanks to such terrain, roads in Assam are generally narrow and twisted. This makes reaching different points in Assam a task on its own. In such conditions, using conventional vehicles for emergency services does not make sense.
To overcome this issue, Mahindra collaborated with the Government of Assam and converted Mahindra Scorpio N SUVs into ambulances. These new Mahindra Scorpio N ambulances are fully equipped with essential medical equipment to provide emergency care.
For this conversion, Mahindra is using the 6-seater version of the Scorpio N SUV. However, to serve its purpose as an ambulance, Mahindra has ditched the third-row seats completely and also removed the second-row seat that is positioned behind the driver seat.
This vacant space is now filled in by a stretcher and other essential types of equipment such as an oxygen cylinder, first aid kits, and other medical supplies. On top of this, the Mahindra Scorpio N ambulance is also equipped with GPS and other advanced communication systems for seamless connectivity.
It is also worth mentioning that the compact dimensions and rugged build of the Mahindra Scorpio N SUVs are well suited to tackle the tough terrains of Assam. As such response times are expected to be significantly improved, which can be crucial for saving someone’s life.
To further improve the effectiveness of the emergency response team, Mahindra is even conducting special training programs for drivers and paramedics. Through this initiative, the automaker even aims to create a strong network of skilled healthcare professionals in the state.
Speaking about the Mahindra Scorpio N, the SUV turned out to be one of the most successful products of the automaker to date. In fact, customers are willing to wait as long as a year to take delivery of the new Mahindra Scorpio N SUV.
Moreover, prices for the Mahindra Scorpio N start from Rs 13.06 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes all the way up to Rs 24.51 lakh (ex-showroom). It is also worth mentioning that the Scorpio N is available with both petrol and diesel powertrain with a choice of automatic and manual transmissions.
Given the tough terrain in Assam, the Mahindra Scorpio N SUVs will be more than ideal as emergency response vehicles. Also, the compact dimensions of the Scorpio N SUV compared to a conventional ambulance will also play a crucial part in reducing the response time.
