Maruti Suzuki Fronx Now Gets ADAS Level 2: But Here’s Why You Still Can’t Buy It

Suzuki has updated the Fronx crossover in Indonesia with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), marking a significant upgrade in its safety tech. The update puts the Indonesia-spec Fronx a step ahead of its Indian counterpart. The Indonesian version of the Fronx now offers the full suite of ADAS Level 2 features, including autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, vehicle sway warning, high-beam assist, and a 360-degree surround view camera.

These features come in addition to standard safety equipment such as six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS, electronic stability program (ESP), and seatbelt pretensioners. Another major difference is under the hood. The Indonesia-spec Fronx is powered by a larger 1.5-litre petrol engine, compared to the 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine options available in India.

In contrast, the India-spec Fronx continues to offer basic safety features like dual front airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, parking sensors, and ISOFIX mounts as standard. Top variants get six airbags and a 360-degree camera, but ADAS technology remains absent.

Maruti Suzuki India has acknowledged the growing demand for better safety equipment. The company recently announced that all vehicles sold through its ARENA dealerships now come with six airbags as standard. A facelifted Fronx is expected to arrive soon and could bring additional safety updates to bridge the gap with global markets.
