Maruti Suzuki to invest Rs 10,189 crore for new Gujarat plant, 2.5 lakh unit capacity

on Tuesday approved the first phase of capacity addition at its upcoming facility in Gujarat, with an investment of Rs 10,189 crore to expand production amid rising demand.

The company’s board cleared the addition of 2.5 lakh vehicles per annum at the , where it had earlier approved land acquisition from the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation.

The new capacity is expected to be commissioned by 2029, subject to market conditions, and will be funded through internal accruals, the company said in a filing.

Maruti Suzuki said its existing capacity—spread across Gurugram, Manesar, Kharkhoda and Hansalpur—is currently fully utilised, with an installed capability of around 26 lakh units annually.

The investment will go towards setting up the manufacturing facility as well as common infrastructure for future expansion at the site, as the automaker looks to cater to growing domestic and export demand.
