Mercedes-Benz To Unveil Its First Electric Van Tomorrow – Here’s What To Expect!

Mercedes-Benz To Unveil VLE Electric Van On March 10

German automaker Mercedes-Benz is geared up to unveil its first-ever battery electric van called the VLE on March 10. The VLE marks a significant chapter in the brand’s electrification journey as it takes the all-electric format into the large recreational vehicle category. With a seating capacity for up to eight passengers, the new VLE will feature vehicles for customers with different needs. From families to leisure active customers or VIP shuttles, here’s everything that you should expect from the new electric van.

The new Mercedes-Benz VLE will be produced alongside the new V-Class ICE-powered van that was recently launched in India for Rs 1.40 crore ex-showroom. Both vans will be produced at the Mercedes-Benz Vitora plant in north-west Spain. Apart from having a massive room, the new VLE is also expected to have class leading range on a full charge, considering the prototypes were able to cover approximately 1,100 km on a full charge with only two 15-minute top-ups during a test run between Stuttgart and Rome. The new VLE has been tested in the Mercedes-Benz wind tunnel in Stuttgart, the high-speed test track in Nardo, South Italy. It is built upon the carmaker’s new modular van architecture, which will be scaled into other products in the future, such as the VLS-Class van for the top-end segment.

That is not all because Mercedes-Benz also intends to launch the new VLE van with a combustion engine at a later stage. Overall, the VLE EV, ICE, V-Class, Vito and eVito vans will be produced at the same Vitoria plant. The new V-Class and now the VLE van come at a time when the luxury MPV segment has been picking up consistently among high0end car buyers.
