MG Windsor Pro EV To Launch Today: Price Expectation

MG Motor India is gearing up to strengthen its EV portfolio in the country with the launch of a new variant of its Windsor electric vehicle, named the . To be positioned above the existing Windsor EV (as the name suggests), the Windsor Pro will serve as a more premium alternative with a larger battery pack. This addition will enable an extended driving range, a key aspect which can further amp up the popularity of the Windsor in the country. MG has also teased the model multiple times in recent weeks and has now that the vehicle will be powered by a 52.9 kWh battery pack.

: Exterior Design

Spy images suggest that MG has subtly redesigned the front fascia of the Windsor Pro to differentiate it from the standard version. The side profile remains largely unchanged, with the exception of newly styled dual-tone alloy wheels, which replace the diamond-cut units seen on the existing version. At the rear, the vehicle continues to feature connected LED taillamps, now accompanied by an ADAS badge located on the lower right section of the tailgate.

Importantly, the Windsor Pro becomes the second vehicle in its segment, after the Mahindra XUV400, to offer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The safety suite is expected to remain comprehensive, featuring six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start and descent assist, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree surround camera.

Inside the cabin, the Windsor Pro receives upgraded upholstery in a beige finish. While unconfirmed, reports suggest that ventilated front seats may be part of the feature list. Other equipment carried over from the standard model includes a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic glass roof, auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

V2L Feature

The Windsor Pro will also introduce Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. The V2L function enables the vehicle to act as a portable power source, allowing external electrical devices to be charged using specialised outlets. Meanwhile, the V2V feature facilitates the transfer of charge to another electric vehicle, offering support in emergency scenarios.

For context, the existing MG Windsor is equipped with a 38 kWh battery, delivering a claimed range of 332 km. The upcoming Windsor Pro, with its larger 52.9 kWh battery, is expected to offer a significantly improved range. This figure surpasses the Tata Nexon.ev’s 45 kWh battery, which currently offers a certified range of 489 km, suggesting that the Windsor Pro will likely exceed this benchmark.

MG Windsor Pro: Price Expectation

In terms of pricing, the Windsor Pro will command a premium over the current model, which is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With the inclusion of new features, improved range, and advanced technology, the Windsor Pro is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom) upon the scheduled launch later today.
