Upcoming BMW i3 50 xDrive Nears World Premiere On March 18

With less than two weeks to go, BMW has announced that winter testing of the next-generation 3-series, or the Neue Klasse i3 50 xDrive electric sedan, has now completed its comprehensive winter tests in Arjeplog, Sweden. This is the same facility where Rolls-Royce had extensively stress tested and fine-tuned the Spectre BEV in 2022. Considering that BMW cars are known for sporty driving characteristics and handling, the completion of the winter tests suggests that the German automaker is now satisfied to go ahead and share the new i3 50 xDrive with the world.

With a grand world premiere scheduled for March 18, 2026, the new BMW i3 50 xDrive sedan has undergone several endurance tests over the frozen lakes of Arjeplog. This has been a long-standing tradition with BMW models over the years. With the i3 being a significant unveil and the first sedan under the Neue Klasse range of EVs, the electric sedan comes with four ‘superbrains’ that work in tandem with BMW’s Dynamic Performance Control software and allow the i3 to have 10X faster responses, according to the automaker. The superbrain can control drivetrain, brakes and some steering functions to ensure that drivers get the maximum performance in every scenario.

BMW i3 Produces 469 Hp And 645 Nm Of Torque

Even over a slippery frozen lake, BMW says that the new i3 50 xDrive sedan has confidence-inspiring handling and the front and rear motors give it fast acceleration and stability. Overall, the new i3 is able to provide precise control over the motors to the driver and even comes with a ‘Soft-Stop’ function that brings the car to a halt without any jerks or brake noise.
