New Kia Sonet Automatic Variants Launched Under Rs 10 Lakh – Check Prices

Kia has launched new automatic variants of Sonet in India which are priced under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). This is relevant for Indian consumers because traditionally, automatic variants of compact SUVs are very costly and this makes them out of reach for consumers. The company has launched the updated Model Year 2026 (MY26) edition of the Sonet featuring a diesel variant with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a turbo petrol variant with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, priced at Rs 9.78 lakh and Rs 9.89 lakh, respectively. This is relevant for Indian consumers because of increasing demand for automatic variants of compact SUVs in congested urban traffic conditions in India, where the compact SUV market is extremely competitive.

Kia Sonet Design Details

The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) variant starts from Rs 9.89 lakh for the HTK(O) variant, while the HTK+(O) variant is higher up in the range.

The introduction of diesel automatic and turbo petrol dual-clutch variants in the Sonet for a price point below Rs 10 lakh will help Hyundai fill a gap in the segment.

The company claims that the Sonet is the first SUV in this segment to offer a diesel 6-speed automatic and a turbo petrol 7DCT at a price point below Rs 10 lakh. This decision by Hyundai could impact potential buyers who were considering the manual version due to budget constraints.
