Tata Motors has recently updated the Tata Punch EV. This model is a cost effective electric option in the brand’s lineup along with another popular model, the Nexon EV. However, there is around Rs 2.8 lakh gap between the two. This is important for Indian buyers because both vehicles offer over 300 km electric range and fast charging capabilities, which presents a value for size dilemma. The Punch EV is aimed at the urban buyer looking for a lower entry point. The Nexon EV is still the larger compact SUV with larger battery options and a longer certified range. The Nexon EV starts from Rs 12.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Practically speaking, the top-end Punch EV variant will cost about the same as the mid-spec Nexon EV variants. People paying Nexon money are essentially choosing more size and power over the savings of ownership.

The difference between the two is roughly 21 km. For highway users or intercity travel, the Nexon’s larger battery provides a tangible advantage. The Punch EV’s smaller pack suits city-heavy driving where daily distance is lower.
