Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming electric people mover, believed to be internally codenamed YMC, has been spied testing again, offering a clearer look at the front styling, side profile, and cabin after previous rear-view images emerged. Automotive enthusiast Ishan Pahwa shared the exclusive spy photographs.

Front Design and Exterior Features

The new front spy shot reveals a relatively short bonnet, a broad nose, and a large windscreen. The leading edge of the bonnet sits above a slim horizontal section, with illuminated lighting elements visible towards the outer edges of the fascia. These lights feature multiple stacked segments, giving the test vehicle a distinctive appearance, though heavy camouflage continues to obscure the complete headlamp arrangement and prevent confirmation of the final daytime running lights and main beams. Lower down, an opening in the bumper sits beneath the temporary registration plate, while the upper fascia remains covered to hide the grille treatment.

Side view images highlight a long roofline, conventional door handles, and sizeable rear doors, accompanied by a tall glasshouse and an upright rear section that emphasize its people-mover proportions. Camouflage covers the lower doors and wheel arches, masking any contrasting body cladding. At the rear, individual rectangular lighting sections are visible within a horizontal arrangement extending across the tailgate area, leaving open the possibility of a connected tail-light treatment even though the central section remains covered. Additional exterior elements spotted include a shark-fin antenna, a rear wiper, a high-mounted stop lamp, bumper-mounted reflectors, and circular parking sensors, while the broad tailgate and upright rear glass point to an emphasis on practicality and the long rear overhang could accommodate a third row.

Nexa Lighting Signature and Cabin Layout

The latest photographs suggest the Maruti YMC will incorporate an interpretation of the NEXTré lighting signature found on Nexa models such as the Baleno and Fronx. Up front, three stacked illuminated elements appear at either end of the fascia, presenting a vertical treatment of the segmented theme, while the rear lamp clusters similarly display three distinct sections for a coordinated lighting identity. These sit horizontally across the tailgate, though camouflage prevents confirmation of an illuminated connecting strip, strengthening the likelihood of Nexa positioning for the upcoming electric MPV.

A first glimpse inside the cabin reveals a dashboard setup housing both the infotainment touchscreen and the instrument cluster in a manner very similar to the layout offered with the eVitara. The YMC is anticipated to share its underlying architecture with the eVitara, potentially utilizing the Heartect-e/27PL platform. Sharing electric components will assist Maruti Suzuki in expanding its electric vehicle portfolio with a larger family-oriented offering, and battery and motor options could also share links with the eVitara ahead of an expected launch in 2027.
