Jeep India has introduced the Compass Sport diesel-automatic variant at an ex-showroom price of Rs 21.99 lakh. This introduction brings the 9-speed automatic transmission to the entry-level Sport trim for the first time, establishing it as the most accessible automatic version of the SUV in India. Deliveries for the Compass Sport AT are scheduled to begin from the second week of November 2026 across Jeep dealerships. Kumar Priyesh, Business Head and Director, Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, stated that the Compass has always stood for authentic Jeep capability, distinctive design, and a confident driving experience, and that the introduction of the 9-speed automatic transmission in the Compass Sport makes that experience more accessible than ever before. This launch arrives ahead of the Diwali festival, and an optional accessory pack is being offered for Rs 29,900, which includes a Swoosh decal, mud flaps, all-weather floor mats, ambient lighting, and a dashcam.

Exterior and Interior Features

Being based on the entry-level Sport trim, the Compass Sport AT features LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs), chrome window surrounds, and 17-inch silver-finished alloy wheels. It also comes equipped with black outside rearview mirror (ORVM) housings featuring integrated turn indicators, a rear spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and an optional Swoosh decal visible on the rear pillars and shoulder line. The broader lineup includes variants such as the Sport MT, Longitude (O2), Trail Edition, Limited (O), Model S (O2), and Track Edition, with the Compass Sport MT serving as the absolute base variant at Rs 18.29 lakh (Ex-sh), creating a price delta of Rs 3.7 lakh between the manual and automatic versions.

Inside, the cabin features a dark theme with grey fabric inserts on the dashboard and door pads. The fabric seat upholstery includes blue stitching, while the optional accessory pack adds ambient lighting and a dashcam. Technology features comprise an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker sound system, steering-mounted controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster. Over the manual Sport variant, the automatic adds 6 airbags, auto-hold, and cruise control.

Powertrain and Safety Equipment

The vehicle is powered by the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, generating 170hp (or 168bhp depending on the report) of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque. This motor is coupled with a 9-speed automatic gearbox that routes power exclusively to the front wheels in a 2WD configuration, while AWD equipment remains reserved for higher trims. Jeep has retained the Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) suspension and Dynamic Steering Torque (DST) on this variant. The rest of the Compass range continues to offer both manual and automatic transmissions alongside 2WD and 4WD options. This marks the second update to the Compass line-up in recent months, following the August introduction of the 85th Anniversary Edition, which was restricted to 85 units and featured cosmetic enhancements alongside a black interior theme.

For prospective buyers looking for an entry-level diesel SUV with an automatic transmission, the new Compass Sport AT lowers the barrier to entry into Jeep ownership. While maintaining essential safety kit like six airbags, electronic stability control, and traction control, it delivers the convenience of a 9-speed automatic gearbox paired with the 2.0-litre diesel motor at a more competitive price point.
