British supercar manufacturer McLaren has announced that production of its mid-engined V8 750S will conclude in 2027. Dealerships are now welcoming final bookings for the vehicle as the company prepares to restructure its vehicle portfolio and venture into unfamiliar market segments starting next year. The 750S is currently retailed in India in two distinct body configurations: Coupe and Spider. The base prices before optional extras stand at Rs 4.94 crore for the Coupe and Rs 5.46 crore for the Spider.

Powertrain and Performance Specifications

Introduced originally in 2023 as an extensive evolution of the 720S, the 750S serves as the primary flagship series-production vehicle for the brand. Propulsion is handled by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 750hp and 800Nm of torque. Transmission duties are managed by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that directs output exclusively to the rear wheels.

The Coupe variant maintains a lean kerb weight of 1,389kg, while the Spider version weighs an additional 49kg. This configuration yields a power-to-weight ratio of 540hp/tonne. Factory figures indicate a 0-100kph acceleration time of 2.8 seconds alongside a top speed of 332kph.

Future Lineup Changes and New Developments

The phasing out of the 750S forms part of a broader corporate restructuring. The brand recently unveiled a fresh company logo and announced plans to develop its inaugural SUV. This upcoming high-riding model is projected to compete against the Lamborghini Urus SE, Aston Martin DBX, and Ferrari Purosangue. Utilising a hybrid setup, it will also function as the first front-engined road car produced by the manufacturer. Furthermore, the company will manufacture proprietary engines and transmissions internally for the first time, establishing a new UK facility to accommodate these engineering programmes.

Variant Price (Before Options) Kerb Weight
750S Coupe Rs 4.94 crore 1,389kg
750S Spider Rs 5.46 crore 1,389kg + 49kg

Implications for the Brand Portfolio

Alongside the 750S, the manufacturer intends to phase out both the Artura and the GTS models by the year 2028. Given that the 750S, Artura, and GTS constitute the entirety of the brand's current series-production catalog, the enterprise is on track to field an entirely redesigned product roster before the decade concludes.
