Nissan Teases Its Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara Rival; A New 7-Seater SUV Also In Pipeline

Nissan is preparing to launch two new SUVs in India. A recent teaser shared by the brand provides a glimpse of the design for these upcoming models. Although the brand has not announced an official launch date, it has confirmed that these vehicles will be introduced during the financial year 2025-26. The first SUV will be a compact model based on the Renault Duster, aimed at competing with the Hyundai Creta. The second SUV will be a compact seven-seater based on the Renault Triber.

According to the teaser, the new Nissan SUV designed to rival the Hyundai Creta will feature a boxy design and embody the latest Nissan design language. The teaser showcases a chunky bonnet, bulky wheel arches, and a smart, sculpted front bumper. The headlights are accentuated by an LED light bar. On the other hand, the Triber-based, seven-seater Nissan will sport a redesigned front end, featuring sharper headlights and a more aggressive bumper. Additional details regarding the design of these new SUVs will be revealed closer to their launch date.

The new Nissan compact SUV is expected to share the same engine options as the Renault Duster. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, we expect it will be equipped with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, delivering 154 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Additionally, the new Nissan 7-seater is expected to feature a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, producing 72 hp and 96 Nm of peak torque.
