Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, has highlighted India’s potential to lead the global technological transition driven by artificial intelligence (AI). He emphasized the importance of the private sector in job creation and called for a supportive government environment to foster innovation and address imbalances.
Aggarwal expressed his support for the government’s efforts to attract global electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, such as Tesla, through fiscal incentives. He believes that such investments will contribute to the development of a robust EV ecosystem in India.
Ola Electric, the group’s newly-listed entity, aims to establish India as a global EV hub. Aggarwal emphasized the need for India to develop its own EV and energy transition paradigm, tailored to its specific needs. He criticized the current global focus on electric luxury cars, advocating for a more sustainable approach.
Aggarwal stressed the importance of India leading the AI revolution, as it is a crucial technology of the future. He highlighted the need for India to develop its own AI models based on Indian data and use cases, rather than relying solely on foreign technology.
While addressing concerns about job losses due to AI, Aggarwal reassured that AI is a tool that can amplify productivity rather than replace human workers. He emphasized the importance of India embracing AI to remain competitive and create future-oriented jobs and supply chains.
Aggarwal acknowledged the crucial role of the private sector in job creation and called for greater efforts from businesses. He also recognized the government’s role in creating an enabling environment and addressing imbalances.
Regarding the government’s incentives for companies like Tesla, Aggarwal emphasized the importance of attracting such investments to enhance India’s competitiveness and foster innovation in the EV industry. He believed that such investments would benefit the entire ecosystem, including Ola Electric.
