Renault Unveils Production-Spec 5 Turbo 3E: 536-HP Rear-Wheel-Drive Madness

Renault has officially launched the production version of its bold 5 Turbo 3E, a striking electric hot hatch inspired by the legendary Renault 5 Turbo / Turbo 2. The 5 Turbo 3E is equipped with in-wheel motors, delivering an impressive total output of 536 horsepower (400 kilowatts). With a staggering torque figure of 4,800 NmNewton meters, this electric hot hatch can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately three seconds and has a top speed of 270 km/h.

Weighing 1,450 kilograms, the 5 Turbo 3E balances its larger size and 70-kWh battery pack by integrating carbon fibre into its construction. This weight-saving approach allows for a range of up to 400 kilometres based on WLTP standards. 5 Turbo 3E’s 800-volt architecture supports a maximum charging rate of 350 kW. This feature allows the lithium-ion battery to charge from 15% to 80% in just 15 minutes under optimal conditions.

Renault 5 Turbo 3E Gets A Track-Ready Interior

The interior of the 5 Turbo 3E features bucket seats with a six-point harness, a roll cage, and Alcantara surfaces, all designed to create a “supercharged ambience.” The rally-style vertical handbrake lever serves as a signature element.

Renault is gearing up to begin orders for the 5 Turbo 3E in the coming weeks, with initial deliveries expected to start in 2027. Pricing details have yet to be revealed. Only 1,980 units will be produced, commemorating the year of the original 5 Turbo’s homologation release. The car will be available in several markets, including Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Australia.
