Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 Launching Tomorrow; Price Expectations

  • Royal Enfield’s first electric bike launching tomorrow
  • Detailed specifications already released
  • Could be priced close to Rs. 2.50 lakh, ex-showroom

Royal Enfield is all set to launch its first-ever electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6, in India tomorrow, 10 April. The detailed specifications of the bike have already been revealed, and we got a chance to take a spin on the bike; you can read our first impressions about the Flying Flea C6 in the first ride review. Now, let’s take a quick look at what the electric bike has on offer as a package.

The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 is powered by a 15.4kW PMSM motor that produces 20.6bhp at 3,500rpm and 60Nm, while the claimed top speed stands at 115kmph. It uses a 3.91kWh battery pack with a claimed IDC range of 154km. The bike also gets an onboard charger, which can charge the battery from 20 to 80 per cent in 65 minutes using a regular three-pin socket. What’s more interesting is that it weighs just 124kg, which makes it the lightest Royal Enfield motorcycle ever.

Feature highlights include a circular touchscreen instrument cluster with navigation through the FF app, along with safety aids such as cornering ABS and traction control. The Flying Flea C6 also gets multiple ride modes — City, Highway, Sport, Rain, and a custom mode that allows riders to adjust throttle response and the level of ABS and traction control intervention.

As for the price, we expect the motorcycle to be positioned slightly on the premium side of the spectrum. Not only is it high-end as a package, with things like a magnesium battery cover and touchscreen display, but the brand’s vision with this EV is not completely sales-driven. They intend to make a statement with the Flying Flea, not just in India but also in the international markets. Considering these aspects, an ex-showroom price of close to Rs. 2.50 lakh seems sensible. While it could be more than that, RE might even surprise us with a much lower price tag.
