Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an RTO inspector and his accomplice in Gandhinagar on Friday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000. The arrests came following a complaint against RTO inspector Hitendrasinh Parmar about corrupt practices at the Gandhinagar RTO office, where officials allegedly demanded bribes ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 for online processing of documents.
The ACB got a decoy to approach the accused for processing lifetime tax for two commercial vehicles. The RTO inspector directed the decoy to his aide, Dipen Rami, a Naranpura resident.
Rami signed the correction form and forwarded it to the inspector. After both signed the documents, Rami demanded and accepted Rs 1,000 from the decoy. The ACB team caught the duo red-handed at the scene. TNN
