Sambhajinagar municipal body resumes anti-encroachment campaign at Jalna Rd

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A total of 490 encroachments were removed after the municipal corporation resumed its anti-encroachment drive on Jalna Road on Saturday. The operation covered the stretch from Mukundwadi to Cambridge Chowk.A workforce of 350 workers divided in multiple teams, a fleet of 20 construction equipment vehicles, including backhoe loaders, in the presence of 400 police personnel were employed to remove illegal encroachments. Arrangements also included health ambulances to cater to any medical emergencies.Civic authorities stated that the drive, which was halted last week, was carried out afresh more vigorously after Bombay high court’s Aurangabad bench refused to stay action against encroachments. “Establishments that are commercial in nature are being removed on Jalna Road during the ongoing action. People who have made encroachments that are residential in nature have until Aug 15 to remove their illegal structures and relocate,” additional municipal commissioner Santosh Wahule said.Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar municipal commissioner G Sreekanth has already announced that, along with Jalna Road, Paithan Gate, the road from Vasantrao Naik Chowk to Harsul village and the stretch between Mahaveer Chowk to Daultabad T-point will be made free from encroachments.
