Skoda’s Latest Compact SUV Is A Super Hit In India, Waiting Period Extends Up To 20 Weeks

The Skoda has made a strong entry into the Indian automotive market, contributing significantly to Skoda’s record-breaking monthly sales of 7,422 units in March 2025. Of these, over 5,000 units were accounted for by the Kylaq alone, marking an impressive start for the newly launched sub-4-metre SUV. The waiting period on this Skoda SUV has extended to 5 months, indicating a strong demand for the car in the Indian market, says a report on Autocar India. Local dealerships in Delhi have also confirmed of the SUV’s higher waiting period.

Skoda Kylaq: Engine And Powertrain

Powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 115hp and 178Nm of torque, the Kylaq is offered with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The manual variant delivers an ARAI-certified mileage of 19.05kpl, while the automatic offers a slightly higher efficiency of 19.68kpl. Notably, the vehicle has received a 5-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP, underlining its focus on occupant protection.

Skoda Kylaq Variants And Features

The Kylaq is available in four trims: Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige. The entry-level Classic trim, offered exclusively with a manual transmission, currently has the longest waiting period of up to five months. Mid-spec Signature and Signature+ variants have a waiting period of approximately three months, while the top-end Prestige trim has a two-month wait.

Skoda aims to achieve monthly Kylaq sales of 8,000 units by the end of 2025, as part of its larger goal of reaching 100,000 annual vehicle sales in India by 2026. The company is also actively expanding its retail and service network to support this growth.

However, the Kylaq’s success has impacted the sales of the Kushaq, which saw deliveries decline to 897 units in March—the lowest since its launch in 2021—due to overlapping features and powertrain options.
