Mumbai: From April 1, motorists traversing through Bandra-Worli sea link, Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway will be required to remit double the toll amount if they do not possess valid or operational FASTag or e-tag. The implementation will also be extended to the five toll booths on the city’s periphery — Vashi, Mulund, Airoli, Dahisar and Thane — for all commercial vehicles as toll has been waived for cars and SUVs.
MSRDC has publicised this decision, made by the public works department on Feb 18, through an advertisement. “Any vehicle utilising cash, credit or debit card, QR code, smart card or any mode other than FASTag or e-tag shall be liable to pay double the toll amount,” stated the ad. —Chittaranjan Tembhekar
