Suzuki Now Serves Indian Curry Online: With A Taste Of Jimny, Swift And Hayabusa!

Suzuki has taken an unexpected turn from its usual focus on cars and bikes to venture into the culinary world with Indian curry. The Japanese automaker is now selling a selection of authentic Indian curry dishes online, transforming a popular in-house meal into a unique business initiative.

This idea originated at Suzuki’s headquarters in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, where a growing number of Indian employees inspired the cafeteria team to create dishes that remind them of home. The curries quickly became popular among staff, leading Suzuki to share them with the public through its official online store.

The menu includes four boil-in-the-bag options: daikon radish sambar, tomato lentil, chickpea masala, and moong dal green. Each pack is priced at ¥918 (approximately Rs 535) and promises an authentic taste, thanks to extensive recipe testing in collaboration with the Japanese restaurant group Torizen.

However, Suzuki is not just selling curry; they are adding a touch of automotive flair. The packaging features playful illustrations of beloved Suzuki models, including the iconic Hayabusa superbike, the Jimny SUV, the Swift hatchback, and the V-Strom ADV. This clever blend of food and brand nostalgia transforms each meal into a collectable item for fans.

For Suzuki, though, it also celebrates the diverse cultures within its workforce. Torizen’s CEO, Yoshitaka Date, describes the project as a way to thank the Indian community and a testament to Suzuki’s commitment to making everyone feel at home, even during lunchtime. Looking ahead, Suzuki hints that more flavours and limited-edition designs could be available soon.
