Tesla Model Y Caught Testing in India; Launch Expected Soon

A test mule of the Tesla Model Y was recently spotted on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, indicating that the electric vehicle manufacturer is preparing to enter the Indian market. The first vehicles expected to be launched by Tesla in India are the Model Y and Model 3. Although the company has not officially announced a launch date, it is anticipated that the first product will be available by the end of this financial year.

The new Model Y is available in two variants: Single-Motor RWD and Long-Range AWD. The Single-Motor RWD variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the Long-Range AWD variant can achieve the same speed in 4.3 seconds. The Single-Motor version offers a range of 719 km on a single charge, whereas the Long-Range variant can cover 662 km.

In the U.S., the Tesla Model Y is priced at $48,900, which is approximately Rs 41 lakh. Considering the import tax, the expected ex-showroom price in India will be just below Rs 50 lakh, placing it alongside premium SUVs from German manufacturers.
